We've known for a while now that Google will take into account if a website is secure (HTTPS) or not when displaying search results, which means that having an HTTPS website isn't only good for security, it's good for SEO also.

Now, Mozilla has just announced that it plans to deprecate HTTP websites altogether eventually, leading to a more secure Internet. They haven't decided on a date yet, and it will probably be phased out gradually, but it's just another indication of how important it is to have your website already HTTPS ready.
